Sea & Earth Lidded Jar by Dan Devine #98-4
This piece has so much personality, from the rich clouds of smokey colors to the beautiful upright form, this shapely urn is a beautiful work of art and tribute to the elements. The lid is delightfully textured, imprinted with shells and relics from the sea shore, and finished with a jaunty driftwood handle. The bottom of the vessel is signed and dated by the artist and features four felt pads to prevent damage to display surfaces.
Made in Minnesota by talented member artist and art educator Dan Devine. Dan works in many mediums, but specializes in ceramics using low-fire and primitive firing techniques, including raku, pit-fire, horse-hair raku, and saggar-fire.
This gorgeous vessel is an example of his work using the saggar-fire technique, a centuries-old Chinese firing technique which, through unique finishing processes and artistic skill, produces individual works of art that are truly one of a kind.
Piece measures approximately 8" high, 6" in diameter. The driftwood handle measures approximately 8"
