stitched stone fiber art object - wings by Lisa Jordan #79-106

Lisa Jordan

A variegated mix of blue and lavender wool surround this stone. A clustered mass of glass beads sit atop, surrounded by a nest of bullion knots in shades of coral and rose. Fringed stitches wing out from the nest.  Approx. 2" x 2.5".

These fiber art objects, real stones encapsulated in wool by the wet-felting method, is home for thoughtful stitches. Each, a meditation of sorts, represents the colors, textures, and patterns of the oft-overlooked details in nature. The heft of the stone coupled with the texture of the wool makes this an art object that begs to be held.

Lisa Jordan is an artist working primarily in hand-dyed wool. She creates both wet and needle-felted pieces inspired by nature, occasionally incorporating wood and other mediums into her pieces. She teaches workshops in the greater Minnesota area and by day, is the Director of The Crossing Arts Alliance.
